If you have a habit of eating carb-rich heavy meals, you are at a high risk of hypotension, as blood pressure may drop suddenly after a meal. It’s a good idea to sneak in snacks between major meals to prevent a drastic drop in your blood pressure. By eating smaller, low-carb meals at regular intervals, you will learn to eat in moderation instead of depending on carb-heavy large meals.

Your body needs an adequate amount of salt every day for its proper functioning. One of the quickest ways to improve your blood pressure is to have a cup of strong coffee. Or you could choose a cup of cola, hot chocolate, or caffeinated beverage to increase blood pressure. It is a good idea to drink coffee with meals if you often experience hypotension. However, you may want to avoid getting into the habit of sipping a cup of coffee every day to avert long-term effects of caffeine.

One study finds that caffeine could help prevent a postprandial drop in blood pressure in older adults. So ending your meal with a cup of coffee might be useful in tackling low blood pressure.
